Training Objectives

Day 1 Objectives:
(1) Describe the DBT dialectical dilemmas, including challenging context and heart of the problem, to facilitate therapist empathic formulation of clients' challenges and needs;
(2) Identify therapist behavior that may inadvertently reinforce client secondary target behavior, consistent with the transactional model of emotion dysregulation;

Day 2 Objectives:
(1) Apply the dialectical dilemma case formulation to clients receiving DBT in order to identify new behavior contingencies aimed to elicit and reinforce new effective client behavior and extinguish ineffective, polarized behaviors;
(2) Apply the Acceptance and Change Protocol (ACP) intervention with clients to identify countering and corresponding therapist responses to enhance treatment
