Do you accept insurance?
While Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey does not participate with insurance companies directly, our services are often reimbursable through your plan’s out-of-network benefits. To find out what you’re entitled to, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about out-of-network coverage for individual, family, or group therapy. Be sure to ask about your deductible and maximum allowable amount. All services are billed directly to you at the time of service, and we’ll provide a receipt with everything your insurance company needs so you can submit for reimbursement.
How do I choose the right therapist for me?
Making the decision to seek therapy for yourself or a loved one isn’t always easy, and finding the right fit matters. It’s important to work with a therapist who has expert training in the approach most likely to help you meet your goals. But it’s just as important that they help you feel at ease, comfortable, and genuinely heard. When you first reach out to Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey, we’ll talk with you about your goals and the kind of person you’d like to work with. Once we feel confident in the match, we’ll connect you with the right therapist to schedule your intake. We look forward to making this a supportive experience from the very first conversation.
What therapies does your practice offer?
Every therapist at Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey has expertise in evidence-based therapy, with a particular focus on CBT, DBT, and ACT. We work collaboratively with our clients to establish goals that are meaningful to them, providing compassionate, effective treatment for children, teenagers, adults, and families in Florham Park, NJ and virtually across 44 states, including New York.
- What is CBT? Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is built on a simple but powerful idea: our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are deeply interconnected. Working together, you and your therapist will identify unhelpful patterns and build real skills to change them. CBT is effective for anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and more, and our clinicians have expertise in providing CBT with children as young as 3, all the way through adulthood.
- What is DBT? Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment for people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions and want to build a life worth living. Every DBT therapist at BCCNJ is intensively trained in this approach. Treatment combines individual therapy and group skills training, covering mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and walking the middle path with skills groups available for children, teens, parents, and young adults.
- What is ACT? Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you stop fighting painful thoughts and feelings and start building a life that feels meaningful along side them. Through mindfulness, acceptance, and values clarification, ACT helps you move your life in a direction that truly matters to you, even when things are hard.
My child has tried therapy before, but it didn't work. Why would this be different?
This is one of the most common things we hear, and we take it seriously. Not all therapy is the same, and for kids and teens dealing with OCD, self-harm, emotional dysregulation, or suicidal thoughts, a general approach often isn’t enough. At The Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey, we specialize in evidence-based treatments like CBT, DBT, and ACT that have been rigorously researched and proven effective for exactly these challenges. Our clinicians are intensively trained, highly experienced, and deeply committed to the people they work with. We don’t just talk; we teach real, practical skills. And we stay with your family through the hard parts.
How do DBT skills groups work?
Behavioral Care Center of New Jersey offers a fully adherent and comprehensive DBT program. DBT skills groups are one of the core components of our DBT program. For tweens and teens, groups are multi-family, meaning your child attends alongside a caregiver, so you can learn the skills together and support each other outside of sessions. Young adults attend a separate group with peers. Groups cover mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and walking the middle path. Individual therapy, family sessions, and between-session coaching from your therapist round out the full program because we know that real change happens in real life, not just in the therapy room.
